The Insightful Scientist is now officially a business!
It’s been a long journey to get to this new phase. Our headquarters are located in one-of-a-kind Hawai’i.
But we couldn’t be more excited to evolve from a personal website to a new organization on a mission to help researchers use scientific discovery as a force for good.
Why did we decide to go this route?
Because our Founder, Bernadette K. Cogswell, knows firsthand what it feels like to try your heart out in science and still feel like you missed the part where you got taught how to actually make scientific discoveries and a difference.
So many of us join science to do good in the world.
To help communities in need. To heal hurting loved ones. To inspire ourselves and others to engineer the impossible and explore the unknown.
But that dream of generating those breakthroughs can get further and further away.
We can’t find the resources to take the path we hoped would get us there. We get derailed by life events we didn’t see coming. We get knocked down by other people not believing in us. We stop believing in the vision of the future we were trying to work toward.
We know. Doing good in science is tough.
Really, really tough.
That’s why we pivoted to being more than just a website.
We’re here to be a place where likeminded science do-gooders can gather.
Where together, we can learn strategies and ideas that will turn great science ideas into valid discoveries that are used to move humanity toward a better future.
We want to give people all the science skills they need as individuals
to fight the good fight.
To empower researchers to:
- Dedicate ourselves to improving our science abilities and skills so we can discover more.
- Tackle problems we believe in, not just what we can get funded to do.
- Value people over prestige.
- Solve the discovery needs of small communities with the same respect and passion as the discovery needs of grand challenges.
- Replace weapons of mass destruction with peace-promoting technologies.
- Champion the use of scientific discoveries for the greater good as a moral imperative.
We believe that the natural arc of progress is a world where those in pursuit of scientific discovery hold themselves to the “force-for-good standard”.
We’ll be there alongside you every step of the way.
We were born ready to do good with science.
